A Seasonal Art Series with Em Campbell at Homestead Gardens

Painting in the Greenhouse is a limited seasonal series of watercolor workshops led by Maryland-based artist Em Campbell, designed to reconnect you with nature through mindful, hands-on artmaking. Whether you’re an experienced painter or picking up a brush for the first time, these small-group sessions offer a welcoming space to slow down, notice the beauty around you, and create something meaningful.
Each class centers around a different botanical or bird subject—from vibrant native wildflowers to iconic backyard birds like the Northern Cardinal and Goldfinch. You’ll begin with a beautifully rendered pencil sketch provided by Em, then bring it to life using professional-quality watercolor materials and guidance.
As part of our June is Pollinator Month celebration, this workshop series invites you to pause and honor the beauty of our backyard ecosystems. Set against the calming backdrop of our working greenhouses, you’ll breathe deeply, slow down, and immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and forms of the season—many of which support the vital work of pollinators.

About your instructor: Em Campbell
I’m Em Campbell, a fine art painter and designer living in the beautiful state of Maryland with my family of four and our delightfully silly pet birds. I create original watercolor and ink paintings inspired by the natural world. My Christian faith shapes how I see and interpret that beauty, infusing my work with a sense of light and peace. I paint for collectors, designers, and galleries, offering art that brings both character and calm to a space. Throughout the year, I also lead watercolor workshops and art classes in my community, sharing the joy of creativity with others. Occasionally, I collaborate with businesses and individuals to create custom artwork that reflects their stories.
