Why I’m passionate about Moms & Preventative Care
It’s a battle I signed up for, was willing to fight and continue to show up for daily- educating the masses on why massage is not a luxury, but rather, one component of your overall personal health journey.
The $13 Billion dollar spa industry, which has more than doubled in the last 7 years and continues to grow rapidly, is who comprises the majority of marketing and advertising for the massage field. Inundated with pictures of beautifully done up women with flowers in their hair, surrounded by luxurious perfection, blissed out…yeah, it can seem like a luxury to many. Especially new moms.
I work primarily with mommas because I get such joy supporting them in a way I feel has been lost from our culture. Nurturing support with a healing, therapeutic modality that has been around since (wo)mankind came into being. Touch is nutrients for the soul, we humans are craving touch these days more than ever.
Before any other title in my life, I am human. As are you. A humanitarian, I want to contribute to making the world a better place. I strongly feel that supporting life as it comes into being is how I am supposed to contribute to the world. Supporting mommas before, during, and after pregnancy, I strongly believe, makes an impact on that new life, helping to change the course of humanity. I’ve said before and I’ll say again- if you care about the future of humanity, you better care about the way pregnant women are treated.
The habits of the mother are most often infused into the family. So, eating healthy, caring for your body, honoring your soul… these are all things we should be modeling for our children and future generations.
Leaving home for a couple of hours to honor your mind, body and spirit by getting a massage is not a luxury. It’s a necessity that many people have yet to experience. It’s often something you don’t know you’ve been craving until you get it.
Your children will learn more from you taking the time to take care of yourself, than they’ll be upset you left them with another person who loves them for a short time.
And, when you return, you’ll feel better. You’ll be more present in your body and in your surroundings. You’ll notice the little details, slowly changing, this beautiful life right in front of you and you’ll be able to enjoy every moment.
