Reflections from a Pregnant Athlete
Thanks to the help of social media, I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with Brittany, ultra runner, coach, and powerhouse woman. She is the creator of Magnetic North and is also currently 37 weeks pregnant. Through her, I’ve learned things I have yet to come across in all my years of research and training women. It’s just how CAPABLE the pregnant body is. When you read Brittany’s latest post reviewing the culmination of her pregnancy adventures, you’ll understand what I mean. Just like me, you’ll be in awe and inspired by her achievements. She’s done something few women have, yet we both know, more women wish to keep doing. And that’s training at the degree they were pre-pregnancy. We are kindred spirits in that we believe in the female body, pregnant and not, to do work. I introduce you to this lovely lady, who will soon be a guest on our new podcast! Hopefully before she crosses the threshold into motherhood. Thanks for sharing your journey Brittany, enjoy everyone! P.S. The photos will make you drool to get in the wildnerness!
Pregnant Athlete: reflections
Happy Monday readers,
As this pregnancy of mine reaches full term, I’ve been taking stock of the last nine months.
Upon first discovering that I was pregnant I debated with myself whether or not to share about my pregnancy and corresponding athleticism as they progressed. As an introvert, it is most comfortable to experience a lesson, take ample time to digest it, then wait to process events before sharing. The decision to document my journey as a pregnant athlete as it happened in this and other forums has taken a lot of self-knowledge, confidence, vulnerability, and ultimately a deep trust in my body and intuition.
