Days 1-3 Eradicating PCOS Symptoms

The past 2.5 days have had their ups and downs and there is DEFINITELY a learning curve with this ‘low carb’ thing! As someone who is used to consuming a balanced diet full of a variety of fruits, veg, nuts, dairy and some grains, the first 2 days were TOUGH!

As you can see from my food logs, I was over my 30g quota for the first 2 days. Today I’m doing much better and I know I will continue to improve as I get used to what I can and can not eat.

Yesterday, Day 2, was terrible. I’m chalking it up to dehydration as I didn’t drink a lot on Wednesday and barely had anything to drink that day. By 2pm I was lethargic, irritable and craving coffee badly. I started to have high anxiety about the diet, work and everything I had to get done. Usually I do not let my responsibilities stress me out but with this new way of eating, it’s expected I feel these things.

When your body goes into ketosis, it’s switching from utilizing glucose for energy to ketone bodies which your brain and tissues then use as energy. Because of our body’s awesomeness, ketone bodies produce more energy compared to glucose because of the metabolic effects of ketosis. Clearly, my body has been running on glucose for 28 years, it’s not used to this process so it takes a couple days to get used to.

Today I woke up feeling good, better than yesterday. I will admit I am still not radiating energy, feel pretty chill. I have no desire to workout because I feel like I won’t be able to give great effort to anything at this point. Just trying to make it through these full days, serving my clients and using a lot of brain power!

Take a look below at my food diary and please feel free to start a conversation in the comments below!
