Day 5 – Extreme Lumbar Curvature
Preventing extreme lumbar curvature is as simple as contracting the abs and tucking the tailbone under.
Lower back pain is a common complaint during pregnancy and can be helped by correcting posture in addition to stretching and easy strength exercises. Below is Cat/Cow which is a yoga movement that feels amazing for relaxation and flexibility. Breath in for cat (tucking tail bone under) and exhale for cow (sticking tail bone out). I’ve created a video that takes you through hip/glute/lumbar strength moves in addition to cat/cow and tail wag.
Breathing to contract the abs is not only a necessary daily activity but it also helps pull the lower back out of extreme curvature and strengthens important abdominal muscles at the same time. Tightening abs like someone is feeling that 6 pack is what you’re going for. Tuck that tail bone under! Hold for 5 breaths then release. Take notice of how your body moves when you brace the abs. Does it relieve your lower back pain?
